The Covered California website (www.coveredca.com) lets you comparison-shop among competing private health insurance plans. Depending on income, you may qualify for assistance (tax credits and subsidies) to reduce your cost.

If your income is more than what you told us on your application, you may have to repay some or all of the advanced premium tax credits that you got.

Immigrants who are not lawfully present do not qualify for a health plan through Covered California; however, they may qualify for coverage through Medi-Cal up to age 26 or for pregnancy coverage. Immigrants who are not lawfully present can also buy private health insurance on their own outside of Covered California.
