🌟 For the past few weeks, I have been actively campaigning as a candidate for DPS School Board, District 5. I've been deeply moved by the spirit of our community. Every interaction has been a testament to not only our collective power, but the potential that we have as a community. It reminds me why I chose to run for School Board to begin with, the kids. I am running to change the direction of DPS. We parents, teachers, students, and the community working together in partnership and collaboration have the opportunity to come together to create a better school experience for our kids. I know that as these weeks begin to approach November 7th, we have much to do. To truly uplift District 5, we must boldly tackle the achievement gap, champion cutting-edge safety measures for our children, address the effects of declining enrollment, and embrace diversity in our educators and leaders. The pursuit of genuine education equity awaits us. Meaningful change hinges on confronting these challenges head-on, and it ignites with the spark of your unwavering support.Kindly spread the word, stay engaged, and contribute however you're able. Your support makes the impossible achievable. Hey folks! I need your help to wish my friends Blind Beginnings a sweet 16! Blind Beginnings was founded by Shawn Marsolais who encourages a limitless philosophy in all they do. "Limitless is about educating the public about the abilities and potential of children and youth who are blind or partially sighted. The idea that the only limitations that exist for these BC youth are the ones that society places on them is crucial to understand in order to fully embrace equity and inclusion in all aspects."Recently I was gifted the opportunity to spend time with two of their team members Rob Mineault and Lia Dicicco and it was incredible to see how their limitless philosophy is embedded in the essential and critical education programs and services they provide for children and youth in BC who are blind or partially sighted. If, like me, you don't have lived experience with being blind or partially sighted, then you and I need to educate ourselves on in how to create spaces that are welcome for folks who are. How we do that is by activating our learning to expand our understanding and knowledge to be better employers, colleagues, friends and allies. And before we get stuck in the "but where do we start" zone, we can skip directly to being activated in action as Blind Beginnings has ample ways to get our learning activated. As example, here is a non-exhaustive list of what activated action looks like:Follow Blind Beginnings! Book a Blindness 101 Workshop! https://lnkd.in/gwTH4jdbListen to the Limitless podcast! https://lnkd.in/gfyr4JSqRead the Limitless blog! https://lnkd.in/g7e_ig6MTell our networks about Blind Beginnings!Let's be activated action takers and give Blind Beginnings a fantastically impactful sweet 16 birthday celebration!#BlindBeginnings #DEI #BlindnessAwareness

For many, nothing is more motivating than a hard deadline. That’s what makes the season of giving, which runs from Giving Tuesday to December 31 each year, such an important time for annual giving programs. Even though fundraising goals are often tied to the fiscal year—which ends in June for the vast majority of educational institutions—the last weeks of the calendar year are critical to a programs’ overall success. In this article, you’ll find 5 tips for optimizing the season of giving: https://lnkd.in/d8rfd2Zg #annualgiving #annualfund #fundraising #philanthropy #training

It's that time of the year when your kids' schools begin their annual fundraising campaigns to raise the vital supplemental funding needed to meet their annual budgets. Schools depend heavily on this additional funding because traditional sources of funding are just never enough, and any amounts they can raise are highly appreciated by all. If you have the means, please support them with any amount, especially if you are able to support levels above the funding for just your own kids! Most already know this drill, but a couple of additional points:1) Much of the effort to raise these funds lands in the hands of super nice volunteer parents who just want to do their part to help their kids' schools. Please be kind to these people when they reach out, and be straight with them on your intentions if you can (ghosting leads to significantly extra time for everyone). Remember, they're volunteers!2) Are you interested in developing your own sales skills, but unsure how to go about it at work? Try being one of these volunteers - it's great training! They can definitely use your help, and it's a great way to learn how to articulate an organization's needs & objectives to a very friendly audience who all share the common goal of making sure their kids' school is properly resourced to do their thing. Unsure how to do this? Hit up your PTO/PTA president (also a volunteer) and just ask! If not now, then sign up for next year's campaign! These efforts apply in some form to all schools, public & private, from pre-K, K-12 and college. If you have kids at any one of these places, thank you for doing your part!#education #fundraising #campaign #school #fundraiser #sales #volunteer #k12education #college

Another real life example of the power of media and effectiveness of PR. I saw a story in The Burnaby Now about The Salvation Army back to school drive for those in need of supplies, and was so impressed. I donated and am now a supporter. Sometimes these examples help people to see how vital media is for informing and educating residents on their community, and what's happening, and how effective PR can be in building awareness and meeting a communications goal such as highlighting a great event, resulting in more fundraising and support. #PR #media #communications https://lnkd.in/gKJZQupu

Sounds like she has a lot of white privilege. Maybe consider giving her opportunity to an underprivileged black kid who actually had to earn it? Make your mentor Robin DeAngelo proud. Ya know, like you preach to your employees, who you never have time to meet with. But you sure have time to tell them all how proud you are of your own family taking away an opportunity from a black kid who's ancestors built Penn State. Maybe you can just pay Jackie another $2K to preach white supremacy to all your employees to alleviate your own guilt.. Have another 'Black Only' company meeting where participants are invited to complain about the evils of the white race. Guess aborting YOUR kid wasn't an option because she's white. right Frank Roe? You are a disgraceful, Leftist, Hypocritical, Anti-American, Anti-Human Bigot. And everyone one at Smartbear knows it!! That's why only 13% of employees participate in surveys. You are the WORST CEO ever, and your leadership has just made EVERYONE miss Justin even more.
